Default Dreaded Pinch Bolt - Upper Arms

With lots of drilling,grinding/ cutting, hammering, sweating, words and 4 hours later, the seized long bolt finally, was removed and 2 new upper arms fitted.

I've since bought a pinch bolt removal tool - cheap as chips, I'll let you know how I get on with the other side, when I find time to do.

Anyone got any good methods to removing?

I had a terrible one, the head sheared off and I got it to move a bit with an air-chisel but not much. Next I drilled it out and drifted it a bit and also was able to put a greased washer on the exposed threads followed by two nuts that I could tighten to pull what was left out. I think I used two nuts as one felt like it would strip. The new one was lathered in anticorrosion wax.
Let us know about the tool !

Saw this, it's the solution, only £500 a little steep for playing about...

I had to replace the same bolt a couple of weeks ago. As the leftovers of the bolt reveals - it didn't come out without a fight! I think I will replace these bolts on an interval - maybe every second year.

Best regards
Pelle

It seems it's a lot bigger issue on the cars with aluminium hubs/uprights. I have had no big issues on A&S 4/6/8 with the steel hubs and that includes cars with factory bits 20 years old and 200k+ miles.
