A couple of months ago when I stopped for fuel I could hear that noise you don't want to hear coming from the OSR tyre a bubbling hissy sound, the roads were wet and it was a little drizzly.
I finished fuelling up and had a quick look and there it was, a brass slot head level with the tread and bubbling. We had to be somewhere so I made the decision that I would put some more wind in it and change it after the meeting as it is only a 10 mile journey and I would be late if I changed it. That was my first mistake. Put 45 psi in it and off I went. Delivered the step son to his dad and off I went back home, I then had a thought I was supposed to do something, swung into a lay-by to change it. I was raining fairly hard by now but one of those things I suppose nothing you can do about and hey it’ll only take a couple of mins to do. The tool kit in the car has been violated but I got the bits I needed jack, wheel brace spare wheel. I left my 4 year old daughter in the car asleep didn’t think I wake her up. Wheel nut cover off, cracked the wheel bolts and put the jack under the car. Now for some reason the jack doesn’t seem to sit in the jacking point very well but hey ho jacked the wheel up undone the wheel bolts and off with the wheel, spare beside me so went to put it on and it won’t fit, I mean it will fit cos I’ve had it on the car before but I won’t go on. I’m wet now so I don’t think I matters anymore if I kneel down on the floor to have a look, and it’s not high enough, strange so I jacked it a bit more and still can’t get it on looked again and it’s still not high enough. How is it possible to jack the car higher and it not go up, Looked under at the jacking point it’s fine not disappearing into the car. So I jacked it so more it was then I realised the car was moving backwards, rolling off the jack well sort of bending the jack, so I managed to get the spare in under the fuel tank with one foot while trying to stop the car coming off the jack completely and not bend the body, just. Let the jack down and re positioned it and tried again but just before it’s high enough to get the wheel on the car would roll off the jack. At one point I’m sure the only thing stopping it falling completely was the plastic centring tool (that I do have). Now I used to work for ATS so this had become my mission I can’t not change a wheel for god’s sake I used to fix tractor punctures in a ploughed field. But everything I done no good, the jack I need another jack. That was it I couldn’t do it so I rang the wife and she came out to her soaking wet husband, used the jack form her Astra took me less than 5 mins when I had a jack. Turns out the jack in the 8 is not the right one for the car (really! I hear you say) Moral of the story ring the wife to come out. I mean make sure you have a complete tool kit or at least the right jack for the car, and to who ever felt the need to keep an A8 jack I hope it pinches your fingers Oh and the daughter didn't wake up, and i had to put a seat cover on my seat as i was that wet i thought i might damage the fine nappa leather. |

It always has to be raining.
Last one I had it was dark too and the torch lasted about 2 minutes so I waited until dawn as I only had to wait half an hour or so. The tyre was wrecked that time...... |

Well, I could, but it's much the same as yours and it would bore everyone else so I won't! OK?
