S8 Solid Tappets Adjustment

I seem to remember both form articles when the S8 came out in 1997 and from the service book from my three previous 340bhp S8s that unlike the standard the 4.2 they had solid tappets that required adjustment at services. I now have a 360bhp model, but there is nothing in the service book about tappet adjustment. Am I imagining things. Did the tappets perhaps go hydraulic on the newer cars?
