Default I am thinking of an upgrade

I am actually on the hunt for a new job, and looking for the next step in my career. This next step should see a hefty pay rise also.

So, I have been seriously concidering upgrading the A8 also.
I am thinking of trading in my D2 '99 A8 4.2 Sport

for a D3 '05 A8 3.0 (maybe 4.0) TDI
Something like one of these:

or
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-A8-4-0-TD...item563bfb638f

What do you lot think? Am I mad, or is it a good move?

You definitely won't regret it

They are two completely different cards which can't be compared too easily. Personally, I'd do the 4.0 TDI and get it chipped, or see if I could get a 4.2TDI for the same money.

Hmmm....

The 4,0TDI looks like its quicker than my 4,2 petrol?!! That cant be right can it?

Is there a whole lot of diff between the 4.2TDI and the 4.0TDI?
I would still be on a budget and would be "allowed" to spend more than £15k MAX
And the upgrade would take place at the end of the year

EDIT:
Hmmm.... interesting:

Same torque between the 4.2 and 4.0, but more power and at least the same if not better economy. And it can be chipped to 370+ HP

Very tempting! Its the fuel economy thats pushing me that way at the moment. So I will have to pull out my A game convincing the fiance that the 4.2TDI is the best way to go. I am having enough trouble getting her to agree to the 4.0 over the 3.0. Thats the trouble with having misses who are also petrol heads!

E.L.M.O Your D2 is a very nice car indeed, nothing like a nice upgrade to keep the flame going. 20s/Bi Xenons/Solar roof etc? Failing that, how about a D2 S8 and then wait for D3 S8 prices to come down.

Thanks mate. I remember you liked the interior and exterior colour combo when you saw it. (grey half leathers with grey alcantra, dark wood dash and black bodywork.

Now thats a thought!

I would also like a RSN-E, TV in motion (I still havent got around to unlocking it on my RNS-D, even though I have the keys) I would also most likely opt for Digi TV, as the guy round the corner from me who does the installs offers the digi box install with the RNS-E which is apparantly designed for the RNS-E. He is based right next to the local Audi dealers, and "says" he has done installs for them on occasions. I wouldnt also ming upgrading to the grey alcantra headlining, but that might be a luxury expense not worth the price seeing as it wouldnt be that long till I did actually upgrade to the D3. Really wish I had the free cash to have those wheels off you! Tis a shame I didnt, they would have finished it off nicely.

Think I might keep my eye out for a few toys once the small niggley bits are fixed
