Default s8 ageing - what are your thoughts?

Hi guys,

I absolutely love my 2002 s8 cant complain but i've been thinking lately that I think the car is ageing and not as powerful as what I would prefer it to be. I mean 0-60 is about 6.something seconds and 360bhp which is great but in comparison to today's roads I feel as though its ageing and not as quick. What are you thoughts on this? Maybe the d3 s8 is my answer - but even then that is 5.1 seconds 0-60 and 450bhp. Why did Audi not put the 4.2 v8 rs6 engine in the s8? I mean that would have been perfect and I dont think that would be called ageing as those twin turbo beasts are still powerful today and many sports/high performance cars cant even compete!

Thoughts/Suggestions welcome

Why dont you consider an upgrade on your S8? There are plenty of performance modifications out there to get the power you want

I know MRC have got 50 BHP from a NA B6 S4 and 70 out of a B7 RS 4 which is also a NA engine. These aren't just numbers plucked out of thin air either, they are dyno proved. So I reckon 400 BHP isn't as unrealistic as it first seemed. I'm hoping Ben can put together a supercharger kit soon, although I'm not going to bother going down that route myself, It would be really cool to see some big power D2s.

My S8 is running over 400BHP right now. Not difficult, very safe if done properly and costs about £1100 if bought new. I got all the kit of Ebay for about £550. Makes me laugh to.

One Porche 911 Turbo driver was very surprised by the old Luxobarge.

Having only recently upgraded from a 2.8 QS to an S8, I'm still coming to terms with 360 bhp (as those behind me on the last Scottish run can testify!). Love the car, even if the first few months have been expensive.

Here's the new stuff. Just watch E-Bay, it comes up often enough.

Basic Kit

Next bit and most important to save your transmission.

Finally to ensure continuity of operation.

Some of the parts on E-bay to get a feel for the savings possible

Ben was pretty stunned when we set it up and tested it on the road. Used it on the Nurburgring in anger and a 911 turbo could not get away on the windy bits and I shot past him on the final straight!

Waiting to fit an AFR gauge so I can monitor if it leans out at all on regular use. Took my 1/4 down from 15.4 to 14.3. Still needs a bit of setting up though.

The SC is going on the projekt. It's at Revo now being fitted. I'll then shift the Nitrous across to it. 800bhp from an 8? Possibly..........................
