Default 255/45/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric (New Pair)

I have two new Goodyear Eagle F1s for sale. I bought them for my A8, but sold it before fitting them and they don't fit my new car.

I can't see them advertised anywhere cheaper than £350 for a pair. Anyone interested can make me an offer for the pair. I'm near Glasgow for collection or can courier them for £15.

the "standard" tyre for my S8 is 245/45 R18 . Are there any issues arising from using a slightly wider tyre?

if you go wider, you need to lower the sidewall ratio and make sure it'll fit on the wheel.

I suppose the question is whether that extra 10mm is really going to affect the situation given that the supsension is standard?

Also, as a supplementary question, should I fit 245s at one end and 255s at tthe other? if so, I guess the the larger tyre should go at the rear end?

I can't remember how much difference the Quattro system can handle. They'll be 9mm bigger on the dia as well as being wider

Well the radius will be about 13" = 330mm, so an extra 4.5mm will be nearer 1.5% than 1%.

Ah! thanks for that. I should have realised that the diameter would be greater too. i'll go look and see what happens on full lock etc. and do some measuring.

Even although I want to sell the tyres, I'd advise you to stick to the right size for your S8. Having said that, I've heard of people having catastrophic damage on Volvos and BMWs by mismatching tyres, but never on an Audi quattro and for more than twenty years we have been subjecting all varieties of quattro to multiple types of abuse.

I wouldn't think it'll matter much and i'm not sure i'd worry to much about it, as i only replace tyres a pair at a time anyway and 4.5 mm could be the difference between a tyre on it's limit (1.6mm) and a new one (7 - 8mm?)
