Default My Audi A8 and the June 2012 adventure

Well, despite suffering from a crankshaft oil leak it was decided to use the A8 for the annual family holiday.

Covered so far,

1) Blandford to Portsmouth,
2) Portsmouth to Santander (Ferry),
3) Santander to Salamanca.

Me the holiday party and the A8 are currently in a hotel in Salamanca, the car is tucked up for the overnight period.

its nice and warm down here, and the car was showing 29c when we arrived. The sun is also beating down, luckily the cars A/C is working without a fault and keeping us cool.

Need to keep a regular check on the oil level, and I have 3 litres in the boot just in case.

Next stop tomorrow, Seville.

Might be worth trying to buy some Forte oil seal conditioner and put it in the engine, you never know it just might be enough to stop the leak

The A8 has made it to our holiday destination and is now parked outside the Villa. The weather in Estepona is fantastic, just right. Seville yesterday where the A8 temperature display was showing 40c was a little on the hot side, and walking around Seville even at 9pm was still very hot.

The 3.7QS made the 730 driven miles on approx 1.5 tanks of petrol, which is better than I had expected. The oil has not needed a top-up, so the leak must be a slow one.

The warm temperature and extra heat from the engine especially with longer journeys could be tightening up the seal enough to stop it leaking, just keep a close watch on it

Quick picture of the 8 lapping up the sun outside Hotel Alcora , Seville. Even looking at the picture you can feel the heat.

Have a good trip, I'm out in Miami currently, it is really hot here too, was showing 90 degrees on the temp guage in the Mustang I've got out here earlier, whatever temp that is in Celsius.

Is this like Radweld for oily bits? Forte's website says they are trade only - any suggestions for how much and where?

Can usually get forte stuff direct from garages that use it. I've had fuel injector and tank treatments before for our old passat and they do seem to work. I wouldn't risk using these things normally but the car was worth buttons and the cost to do a full injector rebuild was more than the value!
