Default Well it finally happened - supermarket trolley and big car :(

Been slightly amazed that it's taken 18 months of probably 3 visits a week to the supermarket car park for some inconsiderate bar steward to smack a trolley into the car!

Didn't spot this this morning when leaving but noticed when went out for a walk this afternoon

Should it be possible for one of these specialist dent removal companies to pull the dent out, even if I leave the damaged paint until I can justify having the whole bonnet redone?

Really pee'd off as done my best to avoid the car getting clobbered when it's parked and can't afford to spend silly money sorting it

Gutted for you mate

I don't know about one of the dent pros getting it out but i would have thought looking at it it would be a mare, but then i've not see any new body shop gear for years mate so i'm just guessing.

That would have needed a hole drilled in it to pull it out, nice easy repair with filler if you were thinking of having paint on the bonnet anyway. If the rest of the bonnet doesn't need paint then it would be easy to blend too as they could just blow over the small area and blend in on the radi.

Not sure if its an option, or if they still have it, but pretty sure a8parts dismantled an Avus silver D2 not so long back - might be worth a call if you think a bonnet swap would be easier overall.....

Out of some kind of bizarre interest I just looked up the price for a new bonnet - £826.56 incl VAT, plus painting of course....

What is slightly odd is that they list different bonnets for LHD and RHD, but the RHD one is no longer available and it says to use the LHD part - wonder what's different and how easy it is to accommodate the differences if using a LHD part?

All academic in any case as don't have that sort of money lying around!

I doubt the a8parts breaker will have only done 50k miles so probably needs painting to make good anyway, so will probably look at getting a quote from the local specialist to see what a 'proper' repair would cost for when I have an income....

LHD and RHD hoods are slightly different around the cabin filter area, the rest is the same.

Hi Adrian,
I was in conversation with a friend, who reckons he had a hot melt glue gun with an attachment for pulling dents, the idea being a threaded stud is glued to the dented area, and then pulled out. This notion was further enhanced by a chap at work, who has a car that was caught in the torrential hail storm that hit the midlands some weeks ago.

Was thinking some internet research may bear fruit for you?

Saddened for you that some careless clot has winged your baby, just hope the same happens to them in the future!!

Best regards,
Steve
