Default ABS/ESP Fault code help

Hi all.

After a week of not driving the car, I started it to find the ABS and ESP light on. Plugged into my VCDS to find this fault...

---------------------------------------------------
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 8D0-907-389.lbl
Part No: 4D0 907 389 E
Component: ABS/ESP allrad D57
Coding: 08397
Shop #: WSC 00518
VCID: 31621EADFB35D9909EB

1 Fault Found:
01423 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200)
35-00 - -
----------------------------------------------------

Found a few things on the web but nothing specific the S8/A8, plus the info I did manage to find wasn't conclusive.

Car appears to be driving ok although I assume the ABS and ESP are probably switched off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Tony.

Yeah, I found this but as my fault didn't say 'Electric Circuit Failure', I thought it may be something different.

it wont say that necessarily but that fault code relates to some sort of failure in the G200 sensor or its circuitry. You could start by performing the basic setting on VAGcom as you have nothing to lose by doing that first.

I was going to try that tomorrow as I'm off. I've done it before on my Golf after I replaced the ABS pump as there was a guide specifically for that model. I'll keep looking and see if I can find a guide.

Cheers.

Did you just start it, or did you drive it ?

There are quite a few circumstances where the ABS / ESP system will put the lights out once the car has moved and it has seen ABS pulses come from all 4 wheels....

Hi there.

They came on as soon as I started it up.

I've been in touch with Andy at Ross Tech as there isn't a basic setting guide on their website and I can't find one elsewhere. He's looking into it for me.

Surely this would be the sensor?

Even of it is the sensor that's faulty, it'll need the settings configuring I think.

Apparently, there isn't a procedure for setting the G200 on its own. The way to do it is to complete the ESP System Function Test. I've just been out to try it but I couldn't find a good enough car park. Either that or it wouldn't complete the test. I think I'm going to replace the sensor and re do the system test.
