Default Plea-to-ban-motorists-washing-their-cars-in-the-street

If this and the thing about no modding of cars go through. What would be next? Put your ideas below.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/...he-street.html

All learner's cars to have inflatable ring around car
Age related car colours.
Time restrictions for car use for age groups.
Car cc or bhp restrictions for different age groups

sure you can think of more, be them possible or silly.

There's only one thing that I want to see come in to place. Stricter testing on budget tyres that are sold in the UK. The ling long whatever tyres on my Punto were nothing but a death trap.

Well I have to say when I first came to UK some 7-8 years ago I was very surprised to see people washing cars on streets. In Latvia where I come from it has been forbidden as long as I can remember. It's OK to wash your own car on your private property if waste waters are not entering public drain system and it's not too close to any lakes, rivers or other water reservoirs but not on public street or other public place. And obviously no commercial pop-up washing car wash businesses. Car washes in Latvia have very strict rules about waste water cleaning and recycling before it can enter public drain. Basically they need to clean and recycle their own water and whatever goes down the drain has to contain virtually no oil products and limited concentration of other chemicals.

While I can see the frustration from many car owners I have to say that I do see a point in this and it's just a matter of time before it get's enforced.

umm - surely we have this already. we adhere to the Audi colour palette ; we will probably drive them until we die and you can't afford to drive a 4.2 until you are a grown-up.

Those cheap tyres are probably better then midrange tyres some 20-30 years ago and not everyone can afford to buy premium tyres. It's drivers responsibility to drive within cars capability including tyres, consistent with driving conditions and within law and regulations.

Could I suggest no car with less than 200bhp be allowed in the outside lane of the Motorway would be good

Is that in factory figures or actual power? Annual power tests at MOT anyone?

Definitely on both points ainar.

A lot of car wash chemicals are really bad for the environment, and they get poured wherever..so better for us to actually stop people buying crap and make the stuff env. friendly as many folks can only wash on the street.

As to tyres.. I had P2000s I think at the time on a Rover 620ti and they were deadly in the wet! It's the car and driver that need to sort themselves out.

P2000 are more like 4x4 tyres. I do remember P6000 and they were crap even if they were midrange at their time, decent wear and not bad on noise but poor grip in warm and dry and even worth on cold and wet. Today's cheap Nankang's kick their ass easily apart from wear maybe.
