WANTED US Style Boot

As per title after a US style boot.
Looks like theres 2 different types here either will do.

Dont expect anybody to have one lying round but you never know. Just some advice on where I would even start looking to source one of these would be great.

Perhaps you should start by calling it a trunk?

Think i may have found one

Think it works out to be about 120quid for the trunk and the bloke reckons about $150-$200 to ship which is again about 120/130quid

Excuse me, I'm just curious, but why would you want a US style boot?

Have you got that short custom number plate, like 'V12' and want distinctively smaller number plate niche for it?

You need to be a bit careful due to plate spacing legal requirements too -

See attached PDF - the rules for your car are -

Number plates fitted before 1st September 2001

If you fitted a number plate before 1st September 2001, they must meet the dimensions in one of the two groups below:


Group 1

Character height
89 mm

Character width (except the figure 1 or letter I)
64 mm

Character stroke
16 mm

Space between characters
13 mm

Space between groups
38 mm

Top, bottom and side margins (minimum)
13 mm

Space between vertical lines
19 mm


Group 2

Character height
79 mm

Character width (except the figure 1 or letter I)
57 mm

Character stroke
14 mm

Space between characters
11 mm

Space between groups
33 mm

Top, bottom and side margins (minimum)
11 mm

Space between vertical lines
9 mm

So group 2 would normally give you the smallest plate size but it will be determined by how many letters and numbers are on your plate and even if there are any figure 1's or letter I's

so my plate V8 GUD
would give a shorter minimum width than your plate X944 LVC

so before you buy - work out the minimum length you can get away with and then make sure whichever version of the US rear trunk you are ordering will work with that!
*you don't have to have the EU blue bit on your plate which helps shorten it but if you choose not to then you will need to put a sticker on your car if you ever take it abroad to indicate its home country*

thinking of purchasing a private plate which would be a lot shorter and like the look of the US trunk/boot. Just fancy something different its just a thought
