Has anyone done this? If so, any tips?
I don't have Bose and the space where the amp would sit is empty (apart from a small electronics unit which I guess is part of the parking system) with plenty of room for the CD changer. The wiring conveniently comes in below floor level so all it needs is some reasonable means of securing it and a removable panel to get access for changing the cassette. Rigid plastic sheet & Velcro like the battery cover would probably be fine for the cover. Edit: Also, does anyone happen to know what the difference is between the A and B version changers, I happen to have one of each! 4B0 035 111A and 4B0 035 111B. Both work fine.

I can only suggest not doing that as changing CDs will be a bit difficult as I assume you will still have shelf with TV tuner, mobile phone antenna amplifier and other stuff above it.
I'd suggest getting BOSE kit for D2 and retrofit it. The space will be occupied. And music will be significantly better. Then RNS-E will make it even more better.

![]() I am installing a TV tuner, but it's a small aftermarket DVB-T box and will be going somewhere else, probably around the dashboard area. And my phone is linked via Bluetooth through an XcarLink unit (which also has music on SD card and USB and can connect an Apple device). I certainly miss Bose, but from what I've read that's a major (and expensive) mission that involves stripping out much of the interior and all the door linings.

Temporarily fitted in place sitting on a bed of bubble wrap and wedged in with foam pieces. Not elegant but surprisingly secure.
![]() I've cut a cover to shape (approx. 15 * 37cm) and will paint it matte black today then secure with Velcro. I don't change CD's very often so that will be fine. (Main music source is now digital via XCarLink, currently in the glovebox.) I'll probably put the cover back in place and use the cubby hole to store a few bits and pieces I currently keep in a box in the boot - spare bulbs, electric tyre pump, etc. (Other stuff is kept inside the spare wheel and a 9L petrol can sits in the space opposite above the battery - empty but useful to have one ![]()
