Default Whoops.... what MOT

Conversation last week with the wife.

Whens the MoT due on my car.
I dont know.. when was it done last
When the car insurance was due. Didnt you change insurance companies.
Yes, they are now both on the same policy.
I havent seen the documentation.
I printed it off for you.....

She scurries upstairs and comes down with the last MOT cert.
Was due at the end of May

Whoops.

Turns out mine expired in september......

Hers is now done (no issues thank god)
Mine being done tomorrow (fingers crossed....)

Lucky she never got pulled (or do they only check for insurance and car tax?)

I've done the same on more than one occasion!

I know some garages send a reminder, but why isn't a reminder sent as a matter of course? 'They' remind you about road tax and insurance and 'they' have the details on file (try getting road tax without it), so why no reminder?

You used to get a sticker issued to put inside the windscreen with the expiry date but most people never stuck them on. To save on adding cost to the mot they ditched the certificate forms as they're expensive to produce, hence the plain paper efforts we get now

I stick something in my calendar on annual reminder otherwise I'd forget too

Very true

Got a 12 month ticket on it today so good news

Also, redid the insurance today for both of them and reduced it by over £400 (over £100 for mine and over £300 for the wifes.......)

Had my MOT on Tuesday too, sailed through (RS6), and taxed for another 12 months... My friend was stopped the other day, his MOT ran out two weeks ago, the officer just said
''Little tip, get an MOT mate, looks like a nice car, should sail through but drive straight home'' and with that he was off, decent copper, but very easy to forgot, not for me, who remembers his cars' birthday (saddo) the RS 6 was 4 on Tuesday.
