Hi all,
The climate control on my D2 PF isn't working correctly. It doesn't matter what I set the temperature to, it blows hot air out of all of the vents apart from the those in the centre of the dash. I think I've tried all options but I just can't get it to work effectively. I know the air conditioning isn't charged (wouldn't hold pressure when it was recharged) but I would still expect it to blow the cold outside air when set to low but it doesn't. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks, Matt |

Not sure how the system works or the route the air takes but could be a sticking flap inside somewhere that won't allow cold air in.

^^ What he said.. If you have VCDS you should be able to test the motors.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I don't have VCDS unfortunately but I'll look into it. I'm a bit of a newbie I'm afraid. I'll also have a poke around to see if anything is sticking. Thanks again.

If everything is quiet inside the car, with the fan speed low you should be able to hear some of the flaps move when you push the econ button. Also well worth a look at the Vagcom register as there could be someone close that might plug it in for you

Good idea, I'll have a listen. I know the flaps under the bonnet work, I've seen them open and close so it must be somewhere behind the dash.
There doesn't appear to be anyone that close to me with VCDS (I'm in Derby), Shark_90 is in the midlands but he doesn't seem to be a current member. How much does the equipment cost? I've tried reading the sticky about it but to a beginner it isn't that clear. If it's not overly expensive, I may invest in it. Thanks, Matt |

I think most people on here would consider VCDS is almost as essential as the ignition key, unless you only let dealers work on your car and trust them implicitly.
![]() When I got my first S8 (2002) I bought VAG-COM and a Bentley manual at the same time. The former (now updated to VCDS) has been and still is invaluable, the latter largely replaced by online resources these days. ![]()

Shark_90 is Ben who runs Shark Performance http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/contact.asp
They will likely want some money to do a scan, but probably a lot more honest than the Audi stealer.

I'll have an explore around and see if I can find anything mechnical that should be working in the first instance. At least the weather is heading in the right direction for this not to be too much of a problem!! |
