Default Digital TV?!

So I have DAB, bluetooth, and AMI and all the stuff on my MMI system installed already, weirdly though... no TV??

Any idea what unit/part I need to buy or who can fit one for me so I can get TV on the go? Really disappointed I don't have that!

If you had analogue TV then swapping to digital is a doddle, as you simply swap the TV tuner. Adding from scratch is more complicated as you need to sort out aerials which your car will not have.

What you need to get depends on if your car is MMI 2G or MMI 3G.

I cant comment on this product, but it seems to be all thats needed and gives control on the MMI system itself.

Thanks I'll look more into it - got to see the difference between an after market one like this or an official Audi part then make up my mind!

If there is no tv fitted from new or a reverse camera then your in for a whole load of hassle, the control head for mmi display will not have video input.

You can replace it and run the fakra video cable but it will require component protection removal from audi

or you can order bits and modify your control head to allow it to accept video that way will prevent component protection being an issue.

See this for more info.

So if one has a reverse camera but NOT a TV, then it is safe to assume that the control head has FBAS (whatever that is) and getting an aux video signal into it is not so tricky? Where is the control head for the MMI then?

If its a factory reverse camera with bendy lines then yes for certain, there may be other ways of getting reverse cam but quite how they interface I'm not sure.

The unit you were asking about is in behind the dash IIRC

I do have the factory installed reverse camera with the bendy lines... that mean I'm okay to just get whatever Audi unit it is and plug it in and hey presto all done??

Certainly will be a lot easier, there's a bit in the manual about fitting it, I'll make it into a PDF for you later
