Default D3 MOT and Service

When I return from Spain the MOT on my D3 will need to be done as well as a service.

Now the car is on 132K miles, on variable servicing, so service wise what should I be looking at getting done. Cambelt etc. were changed in Jan this year. Keep in mind for the last 7 years its never seen an Audi main dealer and been serviced at several indies along the way (Volksworks, Blackpool and SJB Autotech, Basingstoke)

MOT wise, this car is a bit of an unknown. I did the MOT history check, and it took 3 goes to get the car through the last one. Failure on the first was emissions and worn front suspension arm bushes, so it looks like the then owner sold the car. Second one it failed on a number plate lamp and then it was passed. Looking at the suspension arms it does not look like they have been touched in years, however there are no clonks or noises regardless of road surface. All the issues I am aware of are sorted, so lets hope it goes through first time.

Personally, when in doubt do it all.

Has the service book been kept up to date with what's been done and when?

Any details on brake fluid, coolant, Aux belts (?), filters?

Any advisories from the last MOT to indicate what might need replacing this time?
I would not worry about the suspension arms until they start making a noise.

Mine was at 150k and I had cambelt (inc rollers and water pump), oil service, gearbox service and also the ancillary belt all done.

I knew I was going to keep the car for a while so wanted it all done properly so I did not need to worry about it.

Cost me just under £1000 all in from a local VAG specialist but I knew that it needed spending when I bought the car so paid a good low price for it.

Manny, call Chris and he will give you best advice and best price for work which needs to be done, and you know they will do it properly, like Audi or even better as they all are ex Audis Senior or Master Technician. Best time usually to call him.is around 10am or 4pm. You know they are busy as hell so first ask.him if it's ok to talk for 5min.as it's important to you, if he is busy just ask when is the best time to call.

Be aware that some stuff may come.out only when you get there and they will have a proper look, like brake fluid, alternator belt etc

I am not saying that people here wont give you best advice

And they do MOT together with service anyway.
Only genuine parts and fluids, but without stealers charges

MOT failures/advisories on bushes/play is often down to the tester and the length of pry bar they use. The XC90 had an advisory 2 years running, then clean the last time round as it was a different tester.
