Default Propshaft CV joint

I've been enjoying my recently acquired 2000 3.7 Quattro but a developing rattle has been causing concern.

The front CV joint on the propshaft has gone dry and worn out. I understand it is a fairly common problem yet the joint is not available as a separate item from the manufacturer.

I have found this number on another forum (Porsche 92333203200) which a chap used to rebuild an S6 propshaft, but I don't know if they are the same?

Anybody got a part number or source for this CV joint?

TIA Alex.

Not sure if it is the same on FL car but the one on my PF D2 S8 was 100mm outer diameter, 32 mm wide and with 25 splines, can be boght from here, top one on the list:

I guess you will also need boot for it as they do not come with joint, second from the top of list:

You absolute diamond! Not a bad price either. I will confirm here if that fits, then hopefully this thread will be useful to someone else searching for this elusive joint!

You don't happen to know if my car which had an exchange gearbox fitted by Audi in 2006ish would have the updated rear flange? I need to change that seal too....

Did the job today, my 2006 gearbox did not have the modified flange. I did not need to remove the exhaust (just unhooked centre mounts and dropped slightly) or the centre bearing - I think there is more room around the exhaust on the 3.7 vs the 4.2. The UJ was supplied by my motor factor, cross referenced from the GKN number, my part number was FO3017N - that is a eurojoint number. The fitting on the spline was not as snug as I would have liked but it fitted fine otherwise and came with a new gaiter.

So no more clacking and no more smoking - for now!
