Question RS6 engine idea !!

i was racking my brains today and i did have a brain wave i have been quoted by unit 20 for a full supercharger kit full spec fitted and coupled with my mods it will make 500bhp costly but i am considering it, but then i thought if an RS6 engine shares the same configuration as the S8 engine and A8 engine and the intake manifolds would interchange then why not buy a rs6 engine do away with the turbo's and as its already made to take boost, lower the comp a tad, and have it supercharged change the pullys to make bigger boost and install it on the 8 got to be easy to make over 550bhp if not more, and with no issue of turbo's getting to hot and melting alloy and less piping ect and it would couple up to the A8 gear box with an uprated torque converter longer ratio's and would fit into the engine bay !!

1700kilo approx that kind of power =

just a wild theory that i never heard of before so thought i'd throw the idea out there

A D2 with an RS 6 engine would be the best combo. The RS 6 hasn't got the quality of the D2, it doesn't feel as solid either. The only thing it has over the S8 is its engine and beefy arches.

I like the supercharger option - but I'd be looking at a 6 speed box of either manual or auto to make it work. You'll run out of revs long before you run out of grunt with an s/c fitted

I love the idea of supercharging, it was a very close call when I rebuilt my rather 'hairy' P5B V8

yes supercharging is a good option but what im getting at is the std RS6 is twin turbo with 444bhp the S8 is 360 but if you took the rs6 engine removed the turbo's inplace of a twin screw supercharger then it would fit nicely into the A8/S8, as it stands at the moment the lay out with intercoolers turbos ect its too much of a tight squeeze in the A8 engine bay but with a supercharger set up that has a water to air intercooler mounted inside the intake manifold and had a std exhaust set up, it would not be so much of a tight squeeze,
and i would have thought that in the long run the RS6 engine in there that is better set up for forced induction would be able to handle more boost and be more tunable = more reliable high end HP 550+ bhp ?

am i jibbering on a bit ? or dose this make sense at all ?

RS6 engine can be squeezed in as shown on these threads:

I my opinion it is silly to convert turbo car to supercharger, If you start with NA and put supercharger on it fair enough but converting turbo to supercharger does not make much sense to me, you will gain a bit of torque in low revs and gain a space in one place but loose out on efficiency, space in other places and fuel economy and a lot of money converting. I would imagine it would take 30-40 Hp just to drive supercharger at full power.

Considering the costs involved it would be better just to make it fit in the car with turbos especially since it has already been done.

Get Unit 20/MRC to do you a supercharger conversion - they've done a few. The B7 RS 4s are pushing out 600 BHP dyno figures.

i have had a quote for drive in drive out for 10k 500bhp
but you can get an rs6 engine for less than 4k but is it worth the extra hassle of swapping the engines over or is it best for the supercharger option ?

You may get the engine for 4k, but does that incl a turbo rebuild? I'd assume much of the cost would be labour to pull your current engine and make the rs6 fit so could be open ended - even with available info on installation as it'll still be the 1st they've done (unless you're planning to do yourself?)

The sc quote sounds about right - although I'd still want a torque limiting map on the box in lower gears to protect it which would hopefully be incl

Lot of cash to throw at a car that'll never be worth the cost of the conversion though...

yes that includes a TCU remap to cope with the extra torque to prevent it killing the box,
yes its a lot of money but with that kind of power in the lighter D2 im sure it would give the new V10 a good run for its money, and of course the good thing is its all warrented for 12 months, and it can all be returned to stock if needed for resale reasons, and reinstalled on another car, i guess you cant do that with an engine transplant so best option is Sc,

im thinking of booking myself in with them to get it done after xmas maybe may time, save up some more pennies,
