I went up to the Lake district on Tuesday and spent 2 days investigating hotels and the area.
WE NOW HAVE A VENUE AND 2 SETS OF ACCOMODATION. As it is Jubilee weekend it has proven quite hard to find a venue big enough that is reasonably priced. We either went to a chain just of the M6, and large very posh and expensive hotel in the northern lake or find a couple of small hotel/Inns/B&Bs close together that can take the expected numbers. I have found a location on the side of Ullswater at a place called Watermillock. There is an Inn called the Brackenrigg Inn, and a B&B just down the road called Knotts Mill Country Lodge. Between them, as of yesterday, they had 18 rooms. While they are a mile apart, the owner of Knotts Mill has a mini bus and will run people up to the Brackenrigg for the evenings events. He also has a bit of space and would be happy to let people camp there for a small fee if some of his rooms have been booked by the group and the campers took breakfast in his dining room. There are 2 caravan parks locally. Link here for maps and here for Caravan park website The Brackenrigg have space for all of us to dine together and socialise in the evening and I have heard good things about the place. The Brackenrigg requires a 30% deposit. YOU NEED TO MOVE QUICKLY TO SECURE YOUR ROOMS. It is bank holiday weekend and they are expecting to be full. There was no discount offered, but the room rates are reasonable and the location is ideal. It is after all a Bank Holiday weekend and both places assusred me they would be full! ![]() Neil and I also have a big suprise up our sleeves for the Saturdays event so get your rooms booked quickly so you dont miss out. Can I suggest you try the Brackenrigg first and if all the rooms are taken try Knotts Mill. When you have booked your room please add your names below so we know where we are up to. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask
