FL A8 radio aerial

when I switch on the radio , the aerial doesn't rise , motor runs correctly [ same on turn off ] but no other sign of life

no button on top so tested in the approved manner , stuck a piece of wire coat hanger down the tube [ less than a foot possible ] , but doesn't move

anyone stripped one of these , is repair possible ...it looks fairly easy to get it out , but don't want to waste my time if the only solution is to stick a piece of wire down the hole !
