Default D3 wanted..

Recently joined the forum to research about the A8. I have owned lots of Audi's previously,RS2,RS4,S2,2.8 Quattro..but never these.I am now what my other half calls an 'old git' and whilst I still like a bit of get up and go, I now fancy the comfort and toys of the A8...I am considering 4.2 petrol (budget wont stretch to newer 4.2 diesels) and fancy as many gadgets as possible.
I have contacted a guy about one for sale and asked about the cambelt, told me it was changed in 2007 at about 70k miles by Audi (this is an 04 car) so don't need doing till 150/160k. Upon checking with Local Main Stealer they have told me that the revised intervals on the belts is 75k OR 5 years, whichever is sooner.....I take it from this that any car from 03/04 should have had belts changed recently on time limits, correct?
Mention it because at this age/price point of car the belt service is a fair chunk of the value, the guy I spoke to would not consider accommodating the cost from his asking so the search continues!
Anyone know of a good,4.2 with history, give me a heads up..
Now then back to browsing the forum..

Hi and welcome

Cam belts have always had a life of miles or years whatever comes first, so yes the car is due belts on their age.

I keep an eye on whats coming through, although not religiously as i could be tempted into a D3 if it was full of toys and the right price.

IT's posts will be worth you reading for guidance on toy options as he keeps an eye on loaded 8's and he's also fully loaded with knowladge on them.

Enjoy your browsing.

Also i've noticed not many people say where they are, i don't mean house number and street just a clue. Are you in the UK?

1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
