Bosch worktop gas hob
Hi Peeps our igniter on the hob has failed, I have seen few YT videos of how to dismantle but not too sure about fixing it back. It seems that the original fitting had some glue around the hob where it sits on top of the worktop. If I was to remove it what sort of glue would I need to use? Currently using one of those portable ignitors from £1 shop.

Most either have a foam strip but I think the bosch ones use strips of blue tack. If your lucky you will be able to leave it in place and re use. If not dont worry about it some hobs dont come with anything.

Thanks mate and your right, it looks like a black rubber foam type? So I should just undo and place back without any glue etc? Igniters seem easy to replace any tips?

Our non-Bosch glass-top gas hob was "sealed" with double-sided foam, the fitter added clear silicone sealant all round as well.
The glass had to be replaced under warranty, the fitter sent be the manufacturer just used (new) foam again. It's a bit annoying now when debris works under the edge so I may silicone it myself some time. I had to replace an igniter on my in-laws gas hob a few years back; IIRC that had some sort of resilient rubber strip glued just to the worktop so refitting was easy.

Not seen double-sided but self-adhesive neoprene foam is easily available on ebay in a multitude of sizes. Its quite common for sealing hatches in leisure marine applications
