Default Knee-level door trims coming away?

Sorry I've built up a list of jobs to do on my A8. Both of the rear door exterior knee-level trims have lifted away at the ends closest to the front doors - see pics below. It seems that the adhesive material on the back is starting to give up (2005 car) so I removed one earlier in the year, heated it to bend it inwards slightly and re-backed it with trim repair tape. However last month as I closed the front door and opened the rear it caught the edge of the trim and ripped a chunk of the plastic off. Now the other side is doing it too and caught slightly last week.

Has anybody else's car started to do this?

Looking at the pics - if I trim the damaged chrome section off would Tiger Seal or Sikaflex do the job of rebounding it or would I need to remove the whole thing again? I would use strong masking tape to hold it in place for 24 hours whilst it goes off?

Thanks
