Default 4.2 TDI - servicing

hiya,

my car is due for service in some 3-4k miles and having completed pan Euro trip with over 5k miles in total [trouble free though ] I'd like to do the service slightly earlier for piece of mind. I have come across carparts4less that do competitive pricing/deal for Mann Hummel filters and Shell Helix Ultra 5W-30 oil hence was wondering what do you think of it?

...and in case you have any suggestions where to source OEM parts at discounted rate I'd be inclined to sensibly pursue that option ?

Cheers

Mann filters are probably the same filters in the Audi boxes shell helix oil I've found to be very good and have currently changed all my cars over too it, fixed service with fully synthetic oil and you'll be a happy camper for miles to come

Centurion,
Are you anywhere near Swindon?
Daviesbike, forum member is worth contacting about servicing/repairs.
I have travelled down to him on two occasions from Wigan and both times he has managed to quickly resolve problems for me that other have struggled with.
I highly recommend him.

I use Mann filters now as they seem to be the OEM manufacturers- the best prices I have found if you aren't in a hurry is mister-auto (http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/)

Delivery takes a few days, but the prices are the lowest I have found for decent parts

Just checked them out. They list a number of different filters for an oil change. How do I know which my car needs without removing the part to check?

See what the Audi part number is on EKTA (based on year, engine code or PR number)
http://www.partscats.info/audi/en/?i...tgr=1234567890
Note the Audi parts in a text file or Note on your computer and build up a list. The mister-auto site usually has Audi/VW part numbers under the MANUFACTURER REFERENCES (OEM CODES) subheading.

I much prefer mister-auto to ECP these days, but GSF is also OK for some things when they have a 33% off code most weekends but you need to be on their mailing list to get it.

Checking part numbers on the old item is not the surest way.
I have often found that a muppet has changed the part for the cheapest in the past.
Check with ETKA and the part you are taking off, if they are the same then you should be OK.
Otherwise, more research needed

ta... in the end and due to convenience I bought stuff off CP4L [Mann filters] and used Shell helix oil so I'm pleased with results overall.

They did do a very competitive deal hence another + on the financial impact gain .

cheers guys.
