Default Rear shock removal

As simple as the title is, any tips on how to take it out? Was able to remove the fronts ok, but couldn't get the rear shock over the upper arm.

I assume that even though the line is disconnected, the rear strut keeps air in it ( a safety measure incase the airline bursts?) Is there anyway to fully deflate the air spring, thus making it easier to compress and lift clear of the arm?
