As many of you will know, the rear plate is securely by a pair of 25mm M6 (I think) bolts with a 10mm hex head and these have a nasty tendency to rust into the sockets.
I needed to acquire four new black fixing screws for my Volvo plates, these (sensibly) use plastic bolts into metal threaded sockets (at a strangely close 195mm spacing between centres, front and rear). I bought a 10-pack of black ones on eBay for £1.95: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Black-...E/291903111998 The nuts are superfluous but the bolts are also a perfect size for the S8 rear numberplate. They also conveniently have a short unthreaded tip which makes insertion easier. Obviously you may need yellow ones, depending on your plate spacing, mine happens to need black so I solved an Audi issue as a byproduct of sorting out the Volvo. ![]()
