Lets sort out trhe brakes you have firat. Lucas never did brakes for the FL 8s. They are either Teves, Brembo or Girling (and before anyone points out that Lucas and Girling are the same company........
![]() These are the Girlings ![]() Bolt 11 is the blighter. M14x1.5 with and 18mm socket. Done up to 190Nm. I've never played with these but if they are 2 pot and they look it then they must be a sliding caliper which means there is a caliper holder and a caliper and you can take them apart without removing bolt 11. The caliper must be able to slide on the caliper carrier.

Its worth noting that early FL's had the PF steel hubs and PF brake setup if that makes any difference.....
Most FL have ally hubs and the newer brake setup. Its likely yours has the old PF setup....

They do sound like a set from an early PF because thats the type i have on mine. Weights on the pads, no clip over the top but there is a spring in each outside pad to the caliper. Those bolts are tight and they have some sort of threadlocker on them too. I used an old ratchet and 2lb hammer and hit it HARD.
Now just to confuse the issue a bit more, The calipers took off my A had Lucas 43 embosses in them (they rattled) so i put calipers form an S on. befor i fitted them i cleaned then up and painted them, they had Lucas 43 emossed in them also. When i fitted them to the car my discs were too small ![]() Also if you do manage to get those bolts out, make sure you do them up hard or with a torque wrench as they will come loose. As i found out when driving to the anual meet ![]() |
