Default Sport Exhaust

I was told by the previous owner that my S8 has a " Sport Exhaust "...

Any comments or advice ??

There is Mod installed..... being a rocker button instlled under the Centre
Armrests.....
Apparantley this controls Flaps in the Exhaust...

quote previous owner " Alan - Before you reroute the magic switch, check the rear exhaust actuator...see if there is a spring connected (between the rear diff & last box)...I saw my son play with a spring last week that could be that one from the S8. "

I am going to re-route the wiring going to the Engine Bay as it is partially exposed at this point but wouldn't want to go to that hassle if it is not working....

From Prowler to Track Hooligan at the Push of a Button... Hmmmmmm

take some pictures and post them up, none of the D2 models came with any kind of valves in the system so that is totaly after market and has been installed by the last owner im looking into doing this myself at some point its fairly easy to rig up on a standard system

Decided to pop down to the local Powerflow this afternoon and have a chat to Roddy.......and find out what is causing all the fuss about the S and her tendancy to cause Pedestrians false teeth to rattle and every Rice Racer want to take Her On....

Arrived there.... straight on the Ramp..... Inspection.... the whole garage downs tools to look see.....

This is what we Found....

The way I see this is that the The Flap Type Valve shuts off the one pipe when in Prowl Mode
hence the additional silencer on the one pipe and larger rear Silencer ....... and Resonator ???

There is a rocker button under the centre armrests to contol this flap..... so I understand...
This does not appear to be operational.....

Roddy feels the existing configuration is restricting the output .....
Has given me a Quote to replace entire system in stainless...
Offered to re-plate the existing tips...... Cause I don't wanna change them....

I am keen to get the pipework re-done in stainless...... but keep the existing boxes, ...resonator.... , Up-Graded Flap Valve (operational) ....

I really like the sound of the existing set-up and wouldn't want to loose that....

Stay as Is
Replace pipework only
Replace entire system...

Any comments..... advice... Tx.

Looks like a balanced pipe or some sort of x-pipe at the front and de-cat!

The bit you have marked "resonator" at the back could be your rear muffler by-pass? Going to stainless will alter the sound anyways.

Certainly a weird set-up, but sounds bloody good

looks very interesting, a long x-pipe, and no cats. I wonder why the rear lambdas arent complaining, maybe the ECU was mapped?
just out of curiosity how much did Powerflow quote you for a complete new stainless steel exhaust?
I have always wondered how much a titanium exhaust would cost compared to a stainless steel one, probably too expensive, may be worth asking?
I have heard a lot of good stuff about Primary Designs, they do titanium exhausts as well.

Powerflow are saying remove the x-pipe and run single pipes.... ???

Their quote was 500 sterling (R 5 500)...

Didn't know that Stainless Steel changes the Tone... Tx

Must say the Titanium System looks very good.... Nice work... Very tempting... Hmmmmmm.
