Default Installing Bluetooth to rns e...Problem with contacts information

Hi guys

I currently trying to install bluetooth to the rns e.

Now I managed to change the coding so that the rns e recognises the bluetooth module and I can even make a call from my phone, and I can talk through the headunit.

However, when I select telephone I get a screen saying 'I can answer/recieve/end calls using a toggle switch on the steering wheel' But I dont have a multifunction steering wheel.

Further I dont get the screen with the telephone numbers and contacts information from my phone.

How do I get the phone to sync...it is an iphone 3gs....any help would be great.

Thanks

Sounds like some of the coding from your bluetooth module needs changing to remove the option of a MF steering wheel - possibly the car it came from had it?

My phone takes a while to make those menu options available (sometimes minutes) so I would give it plenty of time after they're made a bluetooth connection before deciding it's not working properly.

I don't think you can sync phone contacts to the RNS-E - you don't need to either so long as the correct directory option comes online for you. You can add to the 'names' section which comes up immediately, but it's a PITA to do using the click wheel on the RNS-E. I only have my 3 most called numbers on there to save waiting for the phone to finish connecting if I want to make a call before I set off.

Default bluetooth connection

I had the wrong code in the module 37 for the radio/nav

I was using the code 0205217....

The fifth digit 2 - is for EU Temic Bluetooth....where what I should have used was....the value 7....which is as describe below

0xxx?xx: Telephone/telematics
1 - no telephone (supply voltage for microphone actively)
2 - Mobile phone preparation (Temic - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
3 - Mobile phone preparation (Cullmann - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
4 - Mobile phone preparation (Nokia - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
5 - Telematics Europe (supply voltage microphone inactively)
6 - Telematics US (supply voltage microphone inactively)
7 - Base plate diagnostic capable with comfort control

THANKS FOR THE HELP...

You are the second person to tell me about the slow pace for the contacts information to load...so I think I ll do as you suggest and just save in my most used contacts manually and be done with it.....

Here is a useful link for rns e coding....

For what its worth chaps even my A7 takes a few minutes to load all of the telephone options, some are available almost immediately but others gradually populate the menu and become selectable rather than grey-ed out

Default contacts information on rns e

And I was thinking it was possibly something to do with firmware on the rns e at present. But if you struggle also Neil...then that kinda blows that theory out of the window....

It must be a coding issue of some sort....cos on the audi website it says that rns e and iphone are compatible with respect to contacts....I will try my wifee's iphone 4 and see if there is any difference....

Default 3gs Software

Due to an unsuccessful jailbreak episode...the 3gs is running the latest software...and when I connect via bluetooth...there is actually an option to sync contacts....phone favourites and recents......

I probably didnt allow enough time for the setup....
But will update when I sort the problem....
