The piston has to be pushed back when fitting new pads

I know, found out today, the previous owner had changed the pads, I checked this when visually checking the car over prior to purchase, the pads are 8mm thick but vagcom only reads 3mm and is throwing the pad warning constantly. Vagcom won't let the setting be over ridden so I'm assuming the pistons skipped a thread or something causing the misread ?

I can only assume the previous owner pushed\forced the piston in withou resetting

Only had the car x3 weeks and this is the first thing I've found so if that's all there is I've got off lightly I think

The piston can't skip a thread. Why not switch off the EPC using Vag-com then remove the pads and push the pistons back in and reset and see if that clears it

There is a procedure to re-calibrate the read brakes, it's not as simple as just changing the figure from memory.

I wasn't sure how it's done on Vag-Com Richard, I used my reset tool to do mine.

Here's the Ross-Tech page for how to set it Click

Ah, I have a cable on the way so when it arrives I'll be doing it myself, cheers for the guide i'll, I have a friendly garage that allowed me to use there vagcom today and I did do the reset but I didn't disable the epc, hence I didn't resolve it assuming it was a calliper needed.

The caliper and the EPB are two separate items
