Default Fallen in love - again

Hi all,

Just back from from Thruxton - endurance karting with a group of old school friends that I've known for 40+ years - hilarious and highly recommended.

The real point of the story though is what happened at Frankley Services on the M5 on the way back. Parked the car (on the end of a row, as one does) and went in to get my overpriced coffee. Came out and noticed some seats where I could keep an eye on the car from whilst drinking said coffee. Then it hit me...

The genius who ordered Cherry Black paint on what is now my A8 deserves to be shaken warmly by the hand. With the low spring sunlight hitting it from the side she looked absolutely gorgeous. Eighteen months after buying it, I'm more in love than ever. Sorry, didn't have a camera with me worthy of such beauty.

Just wanted to tell someone who would understand (the wife thought I was simply overtired after a long day ).

Regards,
John

Feel somewhat similar looking at both my '8s in the drive... Will be sad to see the Silver one go

I know what you mean. Having seen my car in the what was almost the FIRST sunlight up here since I bought the car, i could see that Ming Blue is really blue and not just a shade of black. Unfortunately the same sun showed up the swirl marks and the specialist detailer who was at the Crieff Audi meet yesterday saw them too and kindly offered to buff up part of the bonnet. That was my undoing, the difference was fantastic and I am now faced with shelling out loads of spondulicks or to keep looking at it knowing what it could look like!!

Did he give an idea of price for a whole car David?

Considering getting my new car a proper detail to start with.

He did same to mine as well, was quoting £400 for an enhancement and £600 for correctional, sounds a lot but it works out at £10 per hour.

40 hours for an enhancement and 60 hours for a correctional... That's some serious work!

Do we have a name/website?

I'm also considering the same PsYcHe....just an initial detail to prep the bodywork. I just don't have the time to do it, nor the equipment

The company is based in Methil, fife but will travel. They are called Black Magic Detail www.blackmagic.detail.co.uk 07717201673.

Prices as stated by Brian. But to be frank, the £400 "enhancement" (claying, once over with with the mild polisher) was v good on its own. The paint corection service (several runs with decreasing coarseness to get the deeper scratches out) is certainly a big job. Naturally the S8 having a few acres of paintwork is 25% more than teh standard job. (the prices quoted were for an 8).

I'm having this done on the Boxster next week - wash, clay, mop and wax.

Now okay, my car is a lot smaller, but I am paying less than half those prices for about 3/4 of a day's work, it does not take 60 hours (!!!) for a detailing
