Having just done the prestigious speed awareness course i decided to give it a try and keep the speed lower than i might usually
trip from Leeds to Hemel Hempstead didnt really take much longer than usual on the 50 and 60 mph bits i stuck just about to the limit rest of time i was testing to see what would give the best mileage, turns out it seems to be around 78, going faster made the numbers go down so in the end i stuck to that 49.7 MPG door to door - and still got probably enough fuel to get home easily if i do the same on the way back

A good result
![]() I often find that travelling a little slower does wonders for the mpg and generally doesn't add to much to the time..... but boring ![]()
