Default Quick Guide to unsticking the MMI Buttons

The MMI suffers from sticky buttons and also if its playing up and not booting correctly then it may be because its trying to boot up but two buttons are pressing down together causing a bit of a problem. or simply you may have spilled you sticky caramel latte from costa and need to rectify it

To take the pannel out its very easy simply remove the ash tray and under this will be one T28 Torx

then simply pull the wood trim with your hands firmly its just a push fit no screws.

after that just undo all the cable connectors and remove the whole unit with wood trim

you can take the MMI pannel off the Wood trim its only 4 T28 Torx

by this stage it will look like this

After this is out turn it over and you will see a few more screws that will allow you to take out the main circuit board what you will have is this

Note the corrosion on the board that can often cause a problem and make the unit earth out and continue a loop of re-booting over and over again this is some times fixed with some simple circuit board cleaner and a soft brush

Clean it all off and agitate the cleaner with a brush gentility and see if this fixes your issues

also if you have issues with keyless entry and start the anntenna for this is attached to the underside of the MMI Controls and is about £15 if i remember off ebay
