Difference between 2007-2008 S8 D3

Any big differences?

It seems like the front is a bit changed and that the DIS shows the speed.

Anything else?

Any special reason to add another £13K for a 2008 instead of a 2007?

The dis on my 56 plate s8 shows speed, so thats not an extra.

You get rectangular fog lights,
face lift rear lights
extra sound deadning I think
possibly 3g mmi
different wheels

there maybe more stuff but I cant think of any

I think later D3 S8's got a newer generation of the Quattro drive train. Off the top of my head it has a different center diff that gives a 40:60 split. Not sure where I read it as I would have posted a link.

That is something I've never managed to get to the bottom of. Sme sources on the net say the 40/60 Torson III diff was in the car from launch, and some say from the facelift. Nothing seems to provide a definitive answer though.

The known changes were front fogs, rear lights, better sound proofing and certain bits of kit becoming standard rather than optional (eg 4 zone climate control).

3G MMI came out late 2008 on both the S8/A8
Ive seen the odd 2009 car with 2G MMI (sat in audi showroom for a while)
Dab i think became standard on facelift
Chrome door pocket trim
Front square for lights
Led rear lights
MMI screen chrome surround
Extra sound deadening
Different wheels
There may be other bits different but not much

2007/2008 £13k price difference sounds a lot ?
is the mileage similar ?

Here in Norway i can get a 2007 for apx £40 000 and the 2008 starts at £53000,- So not really worth the money from what i can see..

And then there is another question, is the2007 S8 worth the £7K difference to a 2007 A8 4.2 TDI with all the extras?

I would love to have a car that has reasonable mpg and insurance but at the same time the V10 is earcandy...

Well, being in Norway is certainly going to limit the choices of cars for sale I would imagine.

I bought on early S8 and love the V10, but if I'm honest I was looking for a 4.2 tdi but couldn't find one with sensible miles and all the toys that you usually find on the S8

Have you considered importing one from Germany? A lot of my colleagues do that as the prices are much lower and you tend to get better spec cars there.

I know you will get raped on the import tax but just get the dodgy receipt to say you payed less for it.

Yes. Import from Germany is the only solution to get the best price on both.

This 4.2TDI with S8 look will end up at apx £35 000 with all taxes and pickup etc etc.

Something funny going on with pictures, either two different cars or an older picture as the one where the number plate is blanked out has old style tail lights on it.

It also has the adaptive cruise control grill on it but would be worth checking if it has.
