Poly-V belt tensioner

My car stopped on the M-way with, I think, charging issues. Wife driving so not exactly sure.

Car was dragged off the motorway, and the garage said it was a unserviceable belt tensioner. 5 hours to change it, as the whole front of the car needs to come off.

Is this correct???

The car is back on the road now, and the bill paid, but I don't think they had the front of the car off...
