Default Help Ian

Hi I've just fitted a new aftermarket heads unit with a iso adapter kit of eBay and my front speaker aren't working! my question is this I can't seem to find the front speaker connector on the loom behind the head unit!
Have I pushed it out of view?
Or as its Bose do the front speakers run of the rear amp and I'm i looking for a connector not fitted to my car!
Do I need to run fresh speaker wire from the head unit?
Or is is it just that I've purchased a crap adapter kit ( I think so I've already had to sort out its permanent live feed)
Thanks in advance Dave

What did you have before, an RNS-D with Bose?

If so, see the attached connector diagram; Bose would use the 4-channel Line Out connector which includes an "amp on" signal (not sure what it is though).

Note that the 20-pin connector covering CD/Display/LineOut comes in 2 versions. One is a single block, the other is splittable and typically blue/green/yellow.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

The permanent live thing is a common issue on aftermarket gear.

But as above.. if you've got Bose, then you'll need to re-jig the speaker connections to feed there.

Yes it's a rns-d and I've seen the pin out sticker on the rns-d that's what makes me think the cable has fallen back into the dash out of sight, I did fit it in the dark with a torch. I'll pull the side panel today and have another look, I think there are 4 multi plugs on the rns-d and I think I unpluged 4! But I've slept since then!! Cheers dave

With Bose all speakers are driven form Bose amp, none directly from radio.

Quote:
Connector C is actually three separate connectors dovetailed together. It may not be present at all - sometimes, only parts of it are present. It usually comes attached to the device it supports:

C1 - external amplifier or equaliser
Pin 1 - Line out left rear
Pin 2 - Line out right rear
Pin 3 - Line out ground
Pin 4 - Line out front left
Pin 5 - Line out front right
Pin 4 - +12v switched - maximum 150mA
C2 - remote control
Pin 7 - RXD
Pin 8 - TXD
Pin 9 - Chassis ground
Pin 10 - +12v switched - maximum 150mA
Pin 11 - Remote control in
Pin 12 - Remote control ground
C3 - CD changer
Pin 13 - CDC data in (bus)
Pin 14 - CDC data out
Pin 15 - CDC +12v permanent
Pin 16 - CDC +12v switched - maximum 300mA (+A)
Pin 17 - CDC data ground (+U)
Pin 18 - CDC audio frequency ground
Pin 19 - CDC audio frequency left
Pin 20 - CDC audio frequency right
Look at the connector C, looks like you got adapter kit for non Bose cars which only connects line-out for rear speakers and assumes front speakers will be driven directly from unit. You will need adapter kit specifically for Bose for all 4 outputs which connects all pins in C1.

You will probably need a kit that takes signal from speaker level output and connetcs it through resistors to amp as most aftermarket radios use 1.5V line-out but audi system 3.5V so if you run it from line-out it will be very quite.

Looks like this one should do the trick: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Radio-Adap...item19e3871780
