Default Odd Coding

I've noticed it a couple of times but keep forgetting to ask the question.

Has anyone else got fitted equipment to their car that works but when you go into that control module its not coded for the item you have fitted and working?

The tiptronic paddles on my steering wheel for example.
They are there, they work but the coding says I don't have them.
There are others but I can't remember them now.

Yes, it happened to me when I replaced faulty bluetooth/phone module. I've got phone, bluetooth and voice control, and after replacing it I went to code it for all those functions. From that moment my voice control wasn't working. Me, Del and few other guys spent hours on solving this problem 'live', I was fuming. Only after coding the module for NO Voice Control I was able to enjoy VC, phone and bluetooth again, so weird.

BTW, Scott, could you reply to my question in HVAC thread - how did you coded the HVAC to activate the timer function please.
This is the only module which wont give me the pop up window with the coding guide explaining which digit does what, another weird thing, but thats VCDS.
Went last night, but without this helpful pop up window I just didn't want to start changing the code as there is 7 possible digits
Thanks Scott

I think with the VC and Bluetooth the main reason VC stopped working was when Marcin coded the BT module to enable voice control internally within that module. Since the car already had VC when he turned the BT setting on, it took priority over the main car VC and it stopped working.

Marcins D3 has full voice control, so you can control the phone and the full MMI rather than the cut down version of just controlling the phone.

Never knew there was two versions.
I can set destinations, control the CD and such, so that's the full version?
