Default Key coding... again

I've been exchanging emails with A8parts and they suggested I ask the question here.

Searching this forum and the internet, all I can find is that it is not possible to code an used key for D3 (with KESSY in my case). I've also rang a few auto locksmiths and VAG specialist who all say the same.

However, A8parts have sold plenty of these with no issues, so there must be a way? Does anyone know anyone who can do it?

Thanks!

You need to retract pin code from your car.
Any audi specialist with proper STAR and updated audi program should be able to do it.
My guy says his able to do 95% of audis

I've used a security company in Crawley to programme a used remote for our old Leon Cupra R before, but that was a good few years ago. The issue I believe with Audi doing it is they're unable to use an immob chip that's already been linked to another vehicle, whereas the aftermarket folk aren't tied to that so a 2nd hand unit isn't an issue.

I can look up the details if coming over this way isn't too much agro?

I've just done all the paperwork to order a replacement 'temporary' key for the S5, as the original has gone walkies early in the car's life. Previous owner has never had it, so it's gone missing within 6 months of registration! Third key is still coded to the car so not prepared to take a risk on it and since I am having to order via the main dealer I'm hoping they'll re-code for goodwill (they owe me a couple of favours after poor service) but will have to wait and see.

Hi Adrian,

Happy to drive to Crawley if they can do it - at a reasonable cost

Update, some more replies today, another auto locksmith telling me that it can't be programmed unless it has "virgin chip".

Someone is selling "virgin chips" on eBay for £20, he wants £100-£130 to change the chip and program (inclusive of chip). Add to this cost of 2nd hand key and driving back and forth to London I would rather spend £200 odd for the genuine brand new key from Audi.

I'm still hoping someone somewhere can do it

Hi mate

These are the ones I used a few years ago - no recent experience but they had no issues re-coding a chip for an older style flip key remote. They could also supply keys so might be worth enquiring about costs for a brand new one

Gatwick Auto Locksmiths
Unit 5 Stanley Centre, RH10 9SE
Tel: 01293 536377

I took my car there as it's on my doorstep anyway, but they may be semi-mobile as I seem to recall most of the work being done out the back of his van anyway!

Be interested to hear if they can do these newer keys.

I don't think you can - pretty sure it's deliberately omitted from VCDS and you need alternative hardware to do it

Hi Adrian,

Thanks, but it seems they are not trading anymore... phone number doesn't work. Their last entry on their facebook page was from 2012.

According to Ross-Tech website you can program a "new" key with VCDS, IF you know the 4-digit PIN-code.

From this link: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer

"There are Locksmith Supply Companies that sell Products that purport to be able to extract PIN Codes, which could then be used by VCDS. Just as they sell Lockpicking Tools to legal Users, those Tools could also be used for Criminal Purposes and as a Result, we do not sell or recommend them."
