Warped Discs
Hi guys a little while ago, I had some front brake issues, one caliper was binding causing overheating on one side, the other caliper was partially seized causing only one side of the pads to make contact.
Anyway A8parts sorted me out with a set of functional calipers and I had a new set of pads put on as well. However it seems the discs are warped possibly caused by the binding. The Indi garage I use, have said that they will only put audi discs on, for 2 reasons, 1) because they always get the correct part whereas GSF et al can't always work out the correct ones 2) they say a better quality part. They have said if I source my own parts they will fit them though. So I'm looking to get new discs and I know thats new pads as well, what would you recommend? I'm not trying to do it on the cheap-cheap, but would like to keep it original if possible, and not break the bank!! Thanks! Wayne.

warped out now
Ok I'm going to get these replaced new disc's and pads, before I go for the stock Audi ones, (been quoted 328.65 inc fitting and vat using genuine parts) any advise as to what else I can fit, for similar money that will be any better or am I best off with the standard ones?

Darren is fitting some grooved EBC discs and pads and I saw post earlier by Tony that hes managed to secure a 15% discount with them? Worth a try? I will be going EBC when mine are due.

I saw that, I'm not good with brakes, so school boy questions
would a VAG mech be able to fit these discs ok? any mod's to the car to get them on? should I still use Audi stock brake pads? Thanks!

It shouldn't be a problem as long as the discs are replacements and you are not changing the size of the discs.
EBC do some pretty good pads but the pads of choice seem to be Ferrodo DS2500. I've not heard any complaints about these. Conan uses them with AP Calipers. |
