Reference
Since purchasing the FE wheels (D2/8.5"W) wheels from Norretal, I've opted to go all original since losing one of the centre wheel caps. I'll get the wheels refurbed at the same time.
My question is this: does the part number of [8D0 601 165K] relate only to the 8.5" width wheels or is it a generic part that fits a few OEM Audi wheels? I've seen parts listed with the code 8D0 601 165K but some seem to have an additional letter added to the end so I'm wondering what the differences (if any) are... If anyone has a link for purchasing the original OEM centre caps for the 20" FE 9 spoke wheels, then I'm all ears.

There are different finishes (brushed or polished) so maybe the suffix letters refer to that?
If you need a spare in the meanwhile I may have a rather tatty one lying around unwanted and unloved. Let me know and I'll check.

DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant. 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

The cap is used extensively across pretty much every model from 1997 onwards. It fits 17, 18 and 20" variants of the 9-spoke wheel, plus loads of others. The suffix is the colour code as Andrew mentions, as there are also a few variants of that too. 7ZJ is grey metallic for the 20" FE versions. There's also 1H7 which is plain silver, and Z17 which is Avus silver, and more.
Most of these caps come in at around £25-30 from TPS. I can ask for a price if you like? Last edited by MikkiJayne; 26th February 2018 at 08:55 AM. |

Thanks Andrew and MJ
Thanks for your offer HPsauce. I appreciate it but I'm going to purchase a set of 4 brand-spanking new ones. I'd like to take you up on the offer MJ, as the OCD trait in me dictates that I need to get this situation sorted asap hehe. My preference would be the silver code 1H7 which I'm sure is what my current wheels match. We can PM each other so that I can arrange funds?

Just like to pass on a note of public thanks for MJ's assistance on this one. My new wheel centre caps are perfect and look just the part. These things make a big difference to my car and now it just looks 'right'.
Cheers.
