Default Spotted at speed

I was in the bus driving away from the school that I service and some ten cars in front of me whilst waiting at a roundabout a rather nice looking black 8 "shot" across the junction. Not dangerously just fast but within the speed limit (just).
I was thinking "Wow, that is nice" then the light dawned, it was mine.
SWMBO was having a bit of fun
Finally caught her out
I phoned her and asked where she was, reply was "On the way to work"
"OK" says I " but where are you at the moment?"
"Just across the island at Marus Bridge" came back.
"YES I saw you" was my reply.
"OOOOOOPs" came back.

Don't you love it when you catch them out. And I had a grandstand view from the bus!!!!!

I had a similar experience once with an S4, I was driving the dealer courtesy car while mine was in for service, saw my car do a standing start like it had been stolen and way in excess of the speed limit, phone call to the service manager and he told me it was on a ramp.

It wasn't until I threatened to call tracker he admitted that it was "on a road test", needless to say I didn't pay and I never went back!

Somewhat similiar.
Our works 8 was in for a service and a gearbox check.
Our tracker system showed it pottering around Preston, Lancs when it was supposed to be in St Helens, near Warrington.
We checked the log and found it had been doing 101 mph on the northbound M6 prior to this. Then whilst we were watching it went south on the M6 at 106 mph.
We contacted the garage and they said it was on it's way to the gearbox specialist in Preston for research into the suspect gearbox.
Turns out that the fitter that was taking it there lived in Preston so he was doing the grand tour around friends and relations showing off.
The garage owner reported that the fitter had been reprimanded.
Needless to say they will not be seeing any of our vehicles again.

I have never left any of my cars at any garage without me sitting there and waiting for job to be done. But then again I mostly only go to garages for MOT or tyre change, the rest apart from bodywork I do myself and I am not bothered about bodywork much anyway so I don't get any bodywork done anyway.

While on this subject, a mate of mine had his RS4 in to a local dealer (Wearside Audi) for a recall on a headlamp washer defect. He went to collect and found 50 extra miles had been added, they insisted it needed to be road tested......he's never been back of course

About 10 years ago, my friends wife got home and said to him, I just saw the valet taking the car (new D3 3.0TDI) but he was driving rather fast. He said, What valet? looked outside and the car was missing. The front door hadn't latched properly and they took the keys off the hall table.

A few days later, someone about 5 miles away living on a main road reported the car to the Police as it was parked on someone living opposite's drive but they were on benefits' and they thought it was suspicious.
It took two more days for the Police to go round and find it despite it being reported stolen and the man giving the reg no.
