Camshaft plugs

My cam shafts are leaking badly so I've looked for replacement ones and I've noticed tha the older era audis up to about 1995 had solid aluminium 'plugs' with o-rings which is wayy better than the newer models with cheap plastic plugs:



It's a shame audi did that and that you can't buy them anymore

Cost of production goes down, profit on spare parts goes up.

Did the aluminium plugs have something to hold them in place?

Yes they had an oring. I've ordered the cheap plastic ones :/
