Default My engine has been fixed

I cannot believe it!! After two months of near depression, the car is driving as it should.

I took the car to www.mrctuning.com in Banbury to get them to look at how bad the damage to the head/inlet valves was before I forked out for a new head, they used their borescope and found no damage at all even after doing a compression test, all was OK!

Within half an hour they had diagnosed the problem, one coil pack. £115.43 for it to be supplied and fitted. I could have changed the coil myself but what the heck, saved me the hassle and as I was expecting at least £1k bill so was more then happy to let them do it.

On the way up to MRC it did 13.5 MPG, on the way back 22 MPG with the exact same driving style, and it doesn't sound like its eating a bag of nails on idle any more. The difference in the drive in un real, I was shocked when I put my foot on the accelerator.

I got an engineers report from them to proove to the new owner that there is no damage to the engine and it has been fully tested and can be verified by Doug at MRC. They really know what they are doing to, check the B5 S4 on their website doing 202 MPH with a dyno verified 785PS!

Hey mate,

That's fantastic news - i'm glad its all sorted for you! Its been nothing more than misery after misery and good to know your're finally sorted. That is excellent news that you have saved £1k! I was sort of following the problems with this car and if i'm not wrong did Ben not say in a post that the inlet valves were gone and you needed a new head? I'm genuinely confused!

I told MRC to check the head/inlet valves. Not a single thing wrong with them...
Lucky I did too as I was about to sell the car for half what I paid/its worth as didn't want the hassle of changing the head...

Now, I will try and move it along to the new owner as I am confident in its mechanical order or worse comes to worst, keep it.

I'm confused; Ben appears to have diagnosed a significant head fault but it's now got a clean bill of health? Is it still the green S8 we're dealing with? Why does the registration number on the engineers report not tie up? As i say, i'm confused?
