Talking £22,000 W12 engine Mmmmmm

well being smug as i am about this i thought i would share some thing with you all,

while at unit 20 yesterday they keen eyed martin commented on how shiny and new my engine looks and then it was discovered that there was a build sticker dated on the engine november 2011

so i made a few calls to Audi and low and behold its had a new engine on the 30th of november 2011

at a cost of £22,000 it was under audi's extended warrenty program so they changed it, 23 hours labour alone before even counting the cost of the engine,

all the little clues were there
air con did not work ?
cruse control was coded out ?
diff oil was leaking ?
power steering fluid was leaking ?

so basicly the incompident audi dealers could not be bothered to replace the seals on the diff when the engine was changed and also the 2 copper crush washers on the power steering, and with the new engine in they did not re-gas the air con and also did not re code the cruse control
but now all that is done its silky smooth and just about run in i would think

i got told it had a service prior to me buying the car >>> it did not, in fact it was all so clean and fluids were good because of the fact the engine is less than 4 months old !!!

not sure if thats a good thing or not but wow £22.000 for a new engine

guess i had a bargain really

Just thought i would be smug and let every one know

Thats awesome about the engine Guy.

Where was the new engine fitted though, by some monkey under the arches? It sounds like a bit of a lash up. If it was Audi that fitted it i'd be asking them why the job was done so poorly and if thats the sort of training the techs get.
"Don't worry about doing a propper job, that'll do"
After all it's not like it's thier flagship or anything

No under arch trickery, I think it was Audi Wakefield - Guy spoke to them and they said there was no warranty now as the car has now changed ownership , shower of charlatans

When we pulled the nose off to replace the aircon pressure sensor the aforementioned monkey had just shoved the loom back with broken clips and missing fixings etc. So much for Audi 'care'.

Also all and I mean all the clips in the under arch liners were missing and a number of the self tappers, Wakefield Audi told Guy the car was MOT'd at the time of the engine fitment - now I'm a novice spannerer but I can tell the NS track rod end has been shot for more than a few months (split and perished gaiter) so I don't think they were too thorough with that either !

Guy's car has a full Audi service history so let the speculation begin as to why it needed a new motor at around 100k

That's the biggest load of tosh I've heard in a long time. Contact Audi HQ and ask them why there is no warranty on a new £22k engine and tell them about the faults you have found.

And then make plenty of space in your garage.

Dezzy got a case of wine for not even managing to spend £2.50 on a part. Imagine what sort of customer care you'd get for a problem with a £22000 flagship engine change....

In all seriousness though - Yes, I'm sure the extended warranty ended, and thus so does the liability for fixing the car, however Audi UK or their associated insurer coughed up 22K to Wakefield Audi to do the job right. I'm sure Audi UK would have some influence if it had genuinely not been done correctly.

In which case I'd be talking to Audi customer service direct to make plain how poor a job their dealer has done on a flagship model from the range

Ask Audi to authorise/require the warranty to extend - i wonder why the owner didn't query all the problems when the car was collected, unless they just wanted rid of it?
