Replacing electric cooling fan
The D2 has two fans.
1 viscous which is used most of the time, and 1 electric which is used if things are a bit hot, and usually when stationary and the A/C is on. On my car, the electric fan has an annoying squeal in operation, probably a bearing or something, but easier to change, especially as the previous owner already bought a replacement one and gave it me with the sale. Never tried this before, but decided it needed doing so in we go: Heres the new fan. It has 3 lugs, which hook in, then a small turn locks them in place. There is 1 screw, and 1 clip which then keep it in place and stop it rotating back and falling out. Looking down the engine from above, space is incredibly tight. Note the orientation of the fan, and the location of the screw. Why the screw isnt simply on the top arm is beyond me...... Getting the screw out wasnt too bad. Even pressing the clip, and rotating the fan assembly to remove it it simple - but getting it out, thats not easy. You need to remove the engine covers, and the cambelt cover to give space to pass the fan up. This is the screw that holds the fan in - Is it captive with a plastic holder, so it doesnt just fall out - and more importantly, its a heck of a lot easier to get back in. With the fan out, still got to remove the cable. It goes down, between the fans, then heads towards the passenger side where it terminates on a connector under the N/S bumper. New fan back in place. Then removed the undertray to sort the cables out, and run new cable ties. Need to make sure its tied well as the last thing you want is the wires ending up in the spinning blades. Once fan installed, cam cover back on, engine covers back on, undertray back on and job done

Thanks for showing instructions on this one I try and remove it once, but failed and didn't want to break anything.
