Default Audible turn signal indicator

Hi,

I have an issue wih my car and I think this is the correct place to get an answer.

The problem is that the audible turn signal indicator doesn´t work properly. The tick-tock sound is very very low and I can´t even hear it.

Sometimes I forget to disconnect the blinker and I drive miles and miles with the blinker lighting. I,ve changed the relay and that wasn´t the problem.

Can anybody tell me how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,
best regards.

(I am surprise no-one has responded to this) Whats the car model/year? In my 2002 S8 it is pretty quiet - but there again nothing else makes too much noise!

Missed that one... But the indicators are quiet in these cars. If you've got the stereo on, then hances are you might not hear it.

The source of the sound on my car is JUST the relay ticking. There is no other sound source (like a bleeper or anything). The relay is on the passenger side in the footwell (as you will know) so its not ideally situated to provide a sound which can be heard above normal "in-car" noise.

Yea, check the panel from time to time. I tend to manually cancel indicators as I consider it is to warn the intent to turn so should come off as you start the manoeuver.

In Franceshire and other places the go for an overtake on the Dual/Motorway and the indicator stays on for mile after mile or Kilometer after..... Muppets!

When I see people switching off indicators just after starting manoeuvre I think they changed mind in last second and are pulling back, makes me brake and be ready to avoid them. ****es me off.

/Rantmodeon Well whilst we are on the subject it would be nice if some people would consider using their indicators at all even! I think that some cars have psychic indicators and some very basic models dont have any bulbs in them at all /Rantmodeoff

The easiest solution I know for this is to have a look at your dash more often, you should see a green flashing arrow that corresponds with the direction indicator. There are also more useful gadgets down there too, like speed, rpm, temp and fuel left in tank indicators.

Sounds more like a fault with the self-cancelling mechanism on the stalk, unless you're driving on dead straight roads.....

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
