Question I suspect not but........

Having finally having got rid of my poor old chug a bug (who's sole duty was hauling my mountain bike to the nearest hills so I could fall off it ) due to antiquity and tinworm I am now down to A8 only. This clearly causes me a minor issue because the pushiron won't fit in the boot! I have an old saloon boot mounted bike rack from my Alfa and whilst I suspect the answer is a big fat nuh...huh does anyone know if a boot mount fits without ruining the alloy boot lid? Or am I forced into roof rack ville (again not something I am too keen on, the roof skin won't like a roof rack squishing it!) and a bike carrier to get my iron hoss to the falling over destination?

No issues with a pair of roof bars - shouldn't do damage if you buy top quality bars as per another recent thread about borrowing some!

If starting from scratch I'd probably opt for fitting a tow bar and using a clamp on Thule bike rack so you don't impact fuel economy so much - plus no worries about car park barriers!

not a fan of tow bar idea, I only travel out for a ride every few weeks and major surgery seems a little severe for that! The rest of the time I pedal to work (when it's not rainy!) for my bike riding. As for wheels, yep tried that, the new bike is about 2 inches too long whichever direction I tried it in. Dagnabit!

What about a bag for the frame and put it across the back seat?

I had thought about back seating it but the pedals are rather "spiky", the bike is absolutely blathered in goop at ride end and the fork stems are pointy. Not sure where a big enough bag could be obtained but it would have to be tough stuff to stop the leather catching a major booboo.
