Default A few a8 4.2 questions...again!

So, im rather interested in my A8 at the moment. Looking through the paperwork there are a few things that crop up.

On the build sticker the engine code "ODU" has been crossed out by what i assume was an Audi dealer, and it has "ABZ" written next to it with 10195 miles written there aswell. Has this had an engine change? Why change it to a different type engine?

Also it states "A8 LIM" Is this long wheel base?

Build date is actually September 1995 not 1996 as first thought.

Options seem to be pretty mega

Electrically adjustable REAR seats
Heated REAR seats
Electric rear blind
Electric REAR headrests
Rear blinds on windows
Memory front seats
Recaro seats (heated)
Seat belts electrically adjustable
Electrically adjustable steering wheel
Bose
Solar sunroof
Electric fold in mirrors

The car is a 4.2 quattro sport. Are any of those options standard?

The is one blank button on the dash but looking at the manual it shows an ASR button to be there for the FWD models? Bugs me i have a blank

(looked for the options list Laird uploaded, saw the thread but couldnt see the lists?)

There is no ODU engine code , must have been printing error

No, all 8's are LIM and there was no LWB available on 1995

I don't think there was a 'sport' designation as such on the log book, but the options should list sport suspension if I remember correctly.

IIRC Recaro seats were only fitted to the D2's which had sport suspension, so the S8 and Quattro Sport. The standard Quattro and 2.8 FWD both had armchair style front seats with vertical leather padding.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure my D2 did have Sport on the logbook

Well its got the option code on the sticker for sports suspension, and it has a harsher ride and lowered look to it. Also has the recaro interior. Im thinking it is a sport from that

ASR is anti slip regulation for the 2wd 2.8 and 3.7. ESP was for quattros but not available until 1997.....

Nice photos, but there's nothing 'faker' looking than a car with both 'S8' badges and '4.2' badges. No car ever came with both.... I'm not a big fan personally of aftermarket 'S' badging but each to their own...

Indeed, I got told off for that after posting pictures of my current car when I bought it a couple of years ago.
Funny thing is, it's a genuine S8 but also had the 4.2 Quattro badge on the boot.
I hadn't noticed, but it came off PDQ.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
