What do you guys do with the phone in your cars? Is there a provider that gives you 2 sims for one number?
is there an upgrade you can do that allows bluetooth? or some kind of workaround |

I just use a Pay as you go SIM, and when in the car put a call divert on to the PAYG phone number. For the small usage I make using a PAYG sim works well, even if I do have to pay for the redirected leg of an incoming call.
Some new sim cards only work with version 5570 of the MMI software, you may get invalid SIM with most new cards until the MMI is upgraded.

You can also swap out your phone gubbins for a Bluetooth unit like some of us have.

I also have Bluetooth, and it connects as soon as I get in. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it reads out text messages, and allows me to dictate responses. I was less pleased when it wouldn't synch my contacts, which looks like it's because my phone doesn't support rSAP.

Sorry to hijack thread but since you're already talking about it... My car has Bluetooth and I upgraded the MMI to 5570, had to do disc 2 twice as advised and the second run took about an hour! So anyway the Bluetooth works but contacts don't sync, I've got an S4 with the latest lollipop android. Anyone got a similar issue?
Also, my car has the phone dock under the armrests in the centre console pocket, this thing, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-D3...item27fb6e35af I presume this is where you connect the cradle for your specific phone? If I remove this unit as I'm not using it and would like to make space in there and get one with no phone gubbins like this, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-D3...item1e9395f28a I wonder does this cradle thing need to be still connected up for the Bluetooth to work?? Or will there be any repercussions bar a few fault codes?

Hi,
I had a Kufatec bluetooth module fitted in place of the original motorola module. It is located under the floor carpet in the front passenger footwell. Unit is a Kufatec Fiscon Pro and works just like the factory bluetooth available on later models of the D3. Not a cheap solution, unit is almost £400 ! One can also play music via bluetooth but sound quality is only fair. Much better than an aftermarket "parrot" type unit stuck on the dash though. Joe |

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=908 covers the swap using the genuine Audi components.
