Because selling the RS6, buying an S5, and trying to work in-between isn't enough, here's this lunchtimes achievement.....

And we have a heated screen refitted and setting nicely:
So, final hurdles of removing the previous heated screen retrofit. The black/yellow wire is the single connection that runs from the climate module to the rear of the car into the heated screen module. Here we find it, piggy backed onto a wire on pin 11, however it should have actually been on the unoccupied pin 11 in the connector highlighted on the right... So that was removed, and my new wire run in and connected. Interestingly, there is no coding to tell the climate module it has a heated screen, it just detects it.... Below I ran the negative connections to the bottom of the screen whilst the screen was out. I wasn't about to remove the whole dashboard for the sake of absolutely following the original wiring route, but bringing both connections up the drivers side, then its easy and very tidy to take the passenger side wire along the length of the dashboard between the dash and foam seal as arrowed. The morning after installation, forecast to be below freezing, but sadly fell short and no frost. Attempted a test with ice cube, but its much thicker than frost, so was difficult to tell if it was eventually the heated screen that was causing it to melt, or the windscreen blowers as the coolant doesn't take that long with a V8 idling away.... Ho hum... Note the power connectors for the screen quite visible still. Onto a bit of refit: The old next to the new: Final inspection before fitting revealed a few items to sort. Firstly, novelty though it is, the purist in me didn't find the need for a concealed set of flashing LED's behind the centre visor. Very tidy install by some previous owner on this donor headlining though Secondly, a common oversight with headlining removal / installation is the correct and full population of the clips around the sunroof. If you cut corners here, best case you risk having a loose / ill fitting piece of trim within inches of your ear lugs. Worst case, its going to sag and hang down. So, I simply transplant across the clips so that the missing points (green) are populated with a clip (red) so I have refitted the roof lining, and all the alcantara uppers. I've refrained at the moment from refitting any lower pillar plastics or the rear seats as they're in need of some serious cleansing before they get reinstalled....
